For high-build polysiloxane coatings with epoxy functionality and cured with aminofunctional curing agent, what will be the pricing, dosage and how much does the overall cost increase?
This depends on the specific formulation and the target solids content. Compared to commonly used polysiloxane resins from Wacker, Evonik, Dows, Quark is very cost-competitive.
Which type of anti-corrosive pigments are recommended in epoxy polysiloxane coatings? Will they significantly affect salt spray resistance?
Phosphate types and calcium ion-exchanged silicas are suitable, which can effectively improve anti-corrosion performance. Conventionally, these anti-corrosive pigments are often added to the primer.
Is it possible to apply polysiloxane resin for flooring coatings?
Yes, SH-217 epoxy-modified polysiloxane will be the recommended material for flooring coatings. This coating system offers short curing time, can be applied at low temperatures and high humidity. Besides, it exhibits good abrasion resistance, and excellent resistance to acids and alkalis.
What will be the pull-off adhesion when polysiloxane is used over micaceous iron oxide (MIO) or solvent-free epoxy?
For example, SH-217 (primer-topcoat-in-one) over MIO, the pull-off adhesion exceeds 8 MPa.
How is the recoatability of polysiloxane?
If polysiloxane coatings are recoated with the same coating system, the recoatability of polysiloxane is good.
What is the biggest difference between polysiloxane and fluorocarbon?
Both fluorocarbon and polysiloxane have excellent weather resistance when apply in protective topcoat. But the biggest drawback of fluorocarbon is its environmental persistence. It has high fluoro content, and doesn't meet PFAS policy requirements. Quark's polysiloxane resin offers high solids/low viscosity, low VOC, is free of isocyanate, has outstanding weatherability, is safe and eco-friendly, it is the ideal selection to formulate solvent-free or high-solids coatings.
